Hello, Blue Roses

hello blue rosesHello, Blue Roses is the collaborative duo of Dan Bejar and Sydney Vermont. I’m a big fan of both of their practices– Dan as Destroyer and as part of the New Pornographers, and Sydney as a curator, writer and artist. All I can say is you want to super-listen when they are playing. If aesthetics could be feelings, and feelings could be intellect, and intellect could be sensation, then that would be what listening to Hello, Blue Roses is like. For reals.

Also Sydney and I are working on a little invite thingy for the night. More on that soon.

Formed in 2005 around the talents of Vancouver-based visual artist Sydney Vermont and prolific indie rocker Dan Bejar (Destroyer, Swan Lake, New Pornographers), Hello, Blue Roses craft atmospheric, almost mystical folk-pop in the style of ’60s visionaries such as Bill Fay and the Trees Community and new wave radio mavericks like Prefab Sprout and Kate Bush. The duo’s debut album, Portrait Is Finished and I Have Failed to Capture Your Beauty, arrived in 2008 on Locust Music.
